A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to get the highly talked about Vampire facial at Utah Stem Cells. I heard nothing, but incredible things about the facial so I was really excited to try it for myself. Let me tell you. IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. If you don’t like needles or blood, I suggest closing your eyes and inhale deeply because the benefits of this procedure sure as hell outweigh any fear. The Vampire facial is where they draw your blood and then spin it to separate the red and white blood cells from the Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP). Then a micro needle is used to create multiple invisible injuries into your skin that cause your body to naturally produce collagen and elastin to be sent to heal the damaged area. The PRP contains platelets and growth factors that provide faster healing, enhanced rejuvenation and dramatic results.
The Process
When I first walked into the spa it was dark and lit by candles creating an extremely relaxing feeling (for those of you who have a fear of needles, you will feel instantly relaxed walking in). Inside the room, I laid down on a chair and numbing cream was applied to my face. As my face was being numbed they drew out my blood and went to spin it to derive the PRP (this process takes about 20 min).
When the esthetician came back in she then micro-needled all over my face once at a low level (the levels go from .5-2.5, the deeper you penetrate the more dramatic the results), and then she put the PRP on my face and micro-needled all over again to penetrate the PRP into my skin. This is repeated 3 times.
(Side note: I have no mascara on in this picture. Read this post how I grew my lashes)
I’m a weirdo and thought the micro-needling felt soothing and relaxing so we were able to reach the highest level of 2.5 (I must have high pain tolerance, but for those with a low pain tolerance she will only do what feels comfortable and that you can handle). After the micro-needling is complete she finishes with a calming facial. The entire process takes about an hour. My face looked somewhat puffy after, but I instantly felt my skin looked more even (that could have been because it was an all over even red tone).
This was right before I had the Vampire facial
It’s been a few weeks since I had the Vampire facial and I have noticed a significant difference. I had some scarring from a cystic pimple I got years ago and it has almost diminished. My skin tone looks more even, it holds in moisture better and my skin looks radiant and is glowing (I live in a very dry climate and my skin usually looks really dull when it gets cold).
(This picture was taken 6 days after the Vampire facial and the only makeup I have on is eyebrow powder and mascara. I also have rosehip seed oil on my face.)
If you have any issues with scarring, an uneven complexion or you are getting to the age of your skin losing collagen and elasticity then you NEED to get a Vampire facial. If you don’t have any of those issues then you can go by what I always say which is “IT’S NEVER TOO EARLY TO PREVENT WRINKLES”
